A George Enescu Blog?

Why just talk about Pluto, tennis, or Beethoven? Let's also have a blog about the Romanian-born composer George Enescu (1881-1955). 2005 had been proclaimed by the UNESCO as being the year of George Enescu, and 2006 now sees his 125th birthday.

A propos Pluto: Did you know there is an asteroid with the name of Enescu? It is surrounding the sun in about 300 million kilometers distance, every complete orbit takes four years and two months.

It was discovered 1971 Mar. 26 by C. J. van Houten and I. van Houten-Groeneveld on Palomar Schmidt plates taken by T. Gehrels.

Tonight it could be seen in the constellation of aquarius, if (1) the constellation could be seen tonight, and (2) the asteroid would be bright enough... But with a magnitude of 14 it is far from visible to the human eye.

Such is life. Mark.
